OG stomps RNG in under 13 minutes
Two-time The International champions OG bring the house down in a 2-0 win against Chinese team Royal Never Give Up (RNG) during the group stage of the PGL Arlington Major. This match was supposedly a fated meet-up between former OG brothers Sebastien “Ceb” Debs and Anathan “Ana” Pham.
The European Dota 2 team took out RNG in the second game of the match in under 13 minutes. Let’s break down the details of this quick game.
The set-up
OG charged into the second game of the match with the fervor and morale boost they had after winning the first game. They led with a team that focused on early aggression, with Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf on Monkey King in the offlane, Ceb’s Io with him for the sustain. RNG, on the other hand, played with a late-game scaling composition, with Ana on the Phantom Lancer, and a midlane Razor by Lu “Somnus” Yao.
The hook
The hyper-aggressive line-up really paid off for OG as they take first blood at 12 seconds before the first runes pop up.
The next few minutes of the early game were pretty slow in terms of kills, with OG creating space for Artem “Yuragi” Golubiev in the top lane. However it seems as if too much space creation turned Ammar from offlane horror to unkillable carry in the matter of a few minutes.
Ana’s Phantom Lancer repeatedly fell to by Ammar’s hyper-aggressive Monkey King while several kills in favor of OG happen all across the map. It was only 6 minutes into the game, but OG already leads 10-3 in terms of kills with a gold lead of 2,000.
The punchline and sinker
Ammar and Ceb’s lane helps OG snowball pretty smoothly into the mid-game, relocating into lane and killing whoever decides to show their face. Ana has clearly had better games in his career and with a score of 0-5, the humblegod was clearly unamused and desperately wanted to “gg, go next”.
Royal Never Give Up eventually gave up the second game, calling “GG” at 12 minutes and 30 seconds.
This would be the third time that OG finished a game in under 15 minutes, and this was the 11th fastest LAN game in the history of Dota. Resident Dota 2 stats nerd Ben “Noxville” Steenhuisen tweeted that OG once finished a game at 12 minutes and 28 seconds in ESL Katowice, and won an 11-minute game against Virtus.Pro at The Summit 6.
. @OGesports beat @RNG in 12m34s.
This is the 11th fastest LAN game in the history of Dota.
OG have 2 faster LAN wins:
* 12:28 against FTD at ESL Katowice
* 11:03 against Virtus Pro at The Summit 6.— Ben Steenhuisen (@Noxville) August 6, 2022
OG currently stands in 5th place with a record of 1-3-1, while RNG, despite their rather embarrassing loss, sits comfortably at the second spot of Group A with a record of 2-3-1.
