Arlington Major: Fnatic, BOOM secure UB spots, Talon crash out
The group stage matches have finally ended, and Chinese teams PSG.LGD and Team Aster ruled the top of Group A and Group B, respectively. PSG.LGD has had a stellar performance, finishing the group stage with a record of 7-1-0. That’s seven wins, one draw, and zero losses. Aster, on the other hand, also ended with zero losses, albeit with a relatively less lackluster record of 3-4-0.
Fellow Chinese team Royal Never Give Up (RNG) fell out of the lead as they sank down to the fifth spot and failed to secure their place in the upper bracket. This is despite the presence of the humblegod Anathan “Ana” Pham gracing the team.
Southeast Asian teams BOOM Esports and Fnatic both make it to the playoffs, with both securing a spot in the upper bracket. Both Fnatic and BOOM Esports started their tournament runs slow, starting at the bottom half of the table before clawing their way to the top. Fnatic and their three stand-ins from TSM went from going on a draw streak, to sweeping Team Liquid and Soniqs, to getting swept by the titan that is PSG.LGD. BOOM, on the other hand, had a rather colorful run riddled with ties and unlikely sweeps on both ends. While these two SEA teams celebrate their spot in the upper bracket, fellow SEA brother Talon Esports exit the tournament, unable to secure a spot in the playoffs after a disappointing group stage run.
The playoff games will kick off today at 11 PM PHT, with the first match being PSG.LGD against SEA pride BOOM Esports.
