Call of Duty Warzone Mobile is the official name of the game formerly known as Project Aurora which has been in alpha testing for over a year. Now as Activision shared the first teaser trailer of the game, the company also subsequently announced its official name.
Call of Duty Warzone Mobile will be, as its name suggests, a mobile version of the popular PC and console game Call of Duty Warzone. It’s a new game from four Activision studios working together namely Solid State Studios, Beenox, Activision Shanghai, and Digital Legends. According to Activision, the existing Call of Duty Mobile already has a battle royale element in addition to standard multiplayer but Call of Duty Warzone Mobile will be exclusively a battle royale game.
Moreover, the game is set to feature authentic CoD gameplay with up to 120 player lobbies and shared progression. This means the progress a player will make on Warzone Mobile will progress/carry over to the PC/Console versions of both CoD Modern Warfare II and Warzone, and vice versa. This includes player levels, gun levels, and camo progression. For now, however, Activision has not mentioned any cross-play possibilities.
In addition to Call of Duty Warzone Mobile, Activision is developing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 PC and console. The company will share more details on all three titles during the big Call of Duty: Next event on September 15.
