FEATURED STORIES
LOUD swept DRX 2-0 as they became yet another green wall for the South Korean representatives in their upper bracket semifinals matchup.
LOUD took Game 1 on Breeze after they overcame a 9-3 deficit to win the game 13-11. The Brazilian representatives started in a precarious situation as they took a beating from DRX in the first half. With the 9-3 curse in effect, LOUD craftily took over the second half by forcing DRX to go for broken buys multiple times throughout the rest of the game. Eventually, LOUD caught up to DRX by Round 22 as they tied the game 11-11. From there, they successfully won two more rounds to end the game in their favor.
With DRX taken back by what just happened, LOUD capitalized on their massive comeback win in Game 1 to dominate the next (and final game) at Haven. LOUD wasted no time in establishing dominance as they quickly made the first half 8-4 in their favor. From there, LOUD gave no mercy to DRX and swiftly ended the series at Round 19 with a final score of 13-6.

From that impressive DRX sweep, Felipe “Less” de Loyola stood tall and led the team in frags as he recorded a fantastic 41/23/8 series KDA on Cypher and Chamber which made him the crowd’s MVP by the end of the series.

For the day’s second and final, series, OpTic Gaming once again beat XSET 2-1 in the North American faceoff at Champions 2022’s playoffs.
OpTic took first blood in the series as they grabbed Game 1 on Haven 13-11. OpTic trailed 4-8 in the first half as they had trouble with XSET’s pinpoint trading. They then came alive in the second half as their resident aim god, Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker, activated his a-game to start winning rounds for OpTic. Interestingly enough, Victor “Victor” Wong’s Phoenix pick also worked well as he created ample space for his team to work with.
Unfortunately, OpTic tripped and fell at Game 2 in Ascent as they gave it to XSET 13-11. Once again, OpTic was behind XSET in the first half as it ended 3-9. After half time, OpTic seemed to have found their footing as their triple initiator composition with Sova, KAY/O, and Fade slowed XSET down. Unfortunately for OpTic, XSET turned out to be unharmed by the 9-3 curse as they suffered a loss in their series.
With both teams one a piece, OpTic came out the victor as they won Game 3 on Pearl 13-8. For this game, OpTic opted for a dual controller composition with Astra and Viper and featured no duelist in their ranks. The first half was uncomfortably close despite the 8-4 scoreline that was in favor of OpTic. After that, OpTic had a bit of a spook as XSET had a 4-round win streak which they then countered with a 5-round win streak of their own to eventually win the game.
For this series, Yay once again showed the world how deadly he can be as he recorded a total of 63 kills all throughout the series. Meanwhile, Victor wasn’t too far off as he himself recorded a 54/48/14 series KDA.
With their wins, LOUD and OpTic will be facing each other at the upper finals of the Champions 2022 Playoffs. Meanwhile, DRX and XSET still have a chance to redeem themselves as they each face an EMEA representative at the tournament’s lower bracket.
