Capcom recently showcased two brand-new trailers featuring Resident Evil 4 Remake’s storyline and exclusive in-game footage gameplay with the familiar faces of Leon, Ashley, Ada, Luis, and many more.

The gameplay video showcased a familiar RE4 scene, opening with Leon looking for clues regarding the President’s daughter when he stumbles upon an old eerie farmhouse. The only difference is that in the previous game it’s dusk, in the gameplay trailer it’s nighttime. The farmhouses seem to be larger and featured a somewhat creepier basement. The gameplay video looks similar to the original game as it also features the village with numerous mobs including the chainsaw zombie. Capcom tweaked a lot of combat gameplay as we can see that Leon can apparently crouch now and still have the timed button where Leon can stun mobs with it. The gameplay also featured interactable environment traps where Leon shoots a cow that triggered an interaction and rammed the mobs (while the cow is on fire). Lastly, Leon featured a new parry feature where he utilizes his knife to block enemy attacks. Most importantly, the attached case inventory system is back. Phew, that’s a lot of changes. but that much is expected of a remake.

FEATURED STORIES

The story trailer kicked off by showing us some of the iconic moments from the original game featuring our favorite chainsaw mob alongside our favorite human meat shield Luis.  We also get a look at Leon searching for clues to find the missing daughter of the president, Ashley. The trailer also featured some villagers getting devoured by the Las Plagas virus and two of the main bosses of RE4 Osmund Saddler and Salazar. Ada also made a brief appearance in the trailer tailing Leon. We also got to see the remastered look at El Gigante while Leon and Ashley run away from it. Lastly, we see Ashley infected with the parasite which was not in the previous game.

It’s a no-brainer but the showcase actually showcased massive changes but the core gameplay still appears generally similar to the original game. Resident Evil 4 Remake is expected to be released on March 24, 2023, on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
