Korea Punches Ticket to i-League Season 2 LAN Finals
In another showcase between two of the strongest teams in the Asia-Pacific region, Korea punched their ticket to the i-League Season 2 Local Area Network (LAN) Finals after defeating Philippines.
Korea’s MVP.Phoenix defeated Philippines’ Rave Dota, 2-0, securing their ticket to the LAN Finals of i-League Season 2 in China.
In the first game, MVP.Phoenix took the match despite a shaky early game. Picture-perfect initiations by FoREv’s Faceless Void as well as on-point Ice Blasts by Reisen’s Ancient Apparition sealed them the deal, earning a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series.
In the second game, the Koreans went for the Io and Bristleback combo while the Filipinos drafted a lockdown-heavy lineup with a Medusa for the late game DPS. From the first minute, kills have been flying to and fro, with a total of 13 kills on both sides by the 12th minute. Despite efforts by Rave to gain an advantage, all three cores of MVP just got too tanky and after minutes of split pushing and chaotic fights all over the map, MVP.Phoenix grabbed the second game in a convincing manner, forcing the “GG” out from Rave and ending the series 2-0.
This is the first time for MVP.Phoenix to go to the i-League LAN Finals. It is important to remember that the Koreans have just beaten the Filipinos a couple of days ago in their StarLadder group stage match; it seems that they have finally found their form again after having dismal results both in October and November.
MVP.Phoenix will join Vici Gaming, Hellraisers, Virtus.Pro and Cloud9 for the i-League Season 2 LAN Finals on Jan. 1, 2015, with a total base prize pool of $100,000; 15% of ticket sales will be allocated to the participants of the LAN final.
