Valve Changes Dota 2 Economy with New Update

In what could be one of the largest changes implemented by Valve for the Dota 2 in-game economy, the company has announced that all items that are purchased for Dota 2 either in-game or on the Steam Community Market will not be available for trading or selling for a week after the date of purchase.

This is intended to combat fraud and scams, as well as to keep the Dota 2 trading community “safe and healthy”. The revamp will be implemented in a few days, according to the Steam Community Market website.

This is the official announcement on the website.

This is the largest economic change that the creators of the game have adopted since the introduction of a “keyless economy” that intended to “remove all treasure keys by July 1st, 2015” during the Aug. 14, 2014 patch.

The effects of this new rule on the Dota 2 economy are yet to be seen.
