Bennyqt is the MPL PH Press Corps Player of the Week
ECHO gold laner Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales was dubbed the first Razer Gold – MPL PH Press Corps Player of the Week for MPL-PH Season 11.
The gold laner, along with the rest of the ECHO squad, became the first world champion to win their first two regular season matches in the following MPL season. ECHO concluded Week 1 undefeated and the teams they beat are nothing to scoff at either: Blacklist International and Bren Esports.
Bennyqt was deemed worthy of the Player of the Week title for Week 1 after his steady performance in the gold lane which became the team’s pillar in their victories. He averaged 6.50 kills, 5.75 assists, and 2.0 deaths for a 6.13 KDA across all four of their Season 11 matches. All four of these games were also played with a unique hero each time. Razer Gold will award him a Razer Barracuda for his efforts.
“Masaya po ako sa performance namin this week. Isa na ring rason kasi yung natalo namin, Blacklist International na defending champion and also Bren Esports na contender din ngayong season,” said Bennyqt.
“Mahalaga talaga ‘to para sa akin at sa team namin na mag-start kami ng sweep sa first week kasi alam natin na importante talaga yung momentum. Once na maganda simula namin, mag-tutuloy tuloy talaga,” he added.
Other contenders for the title this week were Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera and RSG Slate PH gold laner Eman “EMANN” Sangco. The award is handed out and voted upon by print and online media covering the MPL-PH beat, as well as the league’s broadcasters and operations team.
