Last SEA team standing: Talon secures Lima Major UB spot

Southeast Asian Dota 2 team Talon Esports secured an upper bracket spot for the Lima Major playoffs stage. The team managed to be the last SEA team to get out of the group stages alive, as fellow SEA teams Execration and Geek Slate fall into their respective groups’ 7th and 8th spots.

Talon Esports had a strong run in the group stages, securing a final record of 3 wins, 4 ties, and 1 loss, tied with South American team Evil Geniuses. The team swept teams such as Execration, EHOME, and TSM on their way to the upper bracket, while also standing their ground and tying with solid teams such as Team Spirit, Gaimin Gladiators, Evil Geniuses, and PSG.LGD.
Despite barely clinging on to the third spot during the SEA Division I DPC, Talon Esports managed to be the sole team from the region to move forward to the playoffs. SEA frontrunners Execration had a rather disappointing run, finishing with a 0-6-2 record, a stark contrast to their amazing DPC finish earlier this year. Geek Slate, on the other hand, managed to record two wins, but still landed at the 7th spot for Group B.
Talon Esports carry Nuengnara “23Savage” Teeramahanon says that he is “happy to play in front of the crowd for the first time.” This is the first time that the Thai position 1 player would be playing on the main stage ever since his transfer to the Talon Esports roster. His last LAN appearance was in The International 10, playing for the T1 Dota 2 roster.

Talon Esports will start their upper bracket run by facing off against a refurbished Team Liquid on March 1, 2023, at 8 AM PHT. All the Lima Major playoffs games will be streamed live on Twitch via EpulzeGaming’s channel.
