Title favorites cruise in Day 1 of the CODM Garena Masters 4 Playoffs
The WPM LowKings, ALMGHTY, and Smart Omega cruised in their respective matches at the start of the CODM Garena Masters Playoffs on Saturday, March 18.
The three title favorites left no surprises and tables unturned as they swept Broke Boys Club, Huntsmen, and SKADI 3-0.
WPM started the day off by blasting off BBC in Hardpoint at Standoff 250-137, Search and Destroy at Summit 7-3, and Control at Firing Range 3-0. The match also marked Justin “Susanoo” Cecilio’s first official meeting with his former teammates since moving to the LowKings two months ago.
Moreover, Singaporean titan ALMGHTY dispatched their crosstown rival Huntsmen of Malaysia in a sweep, 3-0. The best team in Singapore mauled the Malaysians in Hardpoint at Summit 250-178, Search and Destroy at Firing Range 8-6, and Control at Slums 3-0. The loss spoiled the playoff debuts of Filipinos Gerome “Vanloo” Alinas and Kristian “Wadu” Galve after being picked up by the Huntsmen.
Lastly, Smart Omega tore down Group A’s top seed SKADI 3-0. SKADI, despite being the top seed entering the game, folded against the more experienced and battle-hardened Smart Omega. The reigning Garena Masters champion made quick work of them in Hardpoint at Takeoff 250-136, Search and Destroy at Firing Range 7-3, and Control at Raid 3-0.
Another perennial title contender and Garena Masters 1 champion Blacklist Ultimate takes the floor tomorrow against the 4S Kings for the last quarterfinal matchup. BBC will face Huntsmen in the Lower Bracket 1 matchup while the loser of the Blacklist-4S match will go against SKADI in the Lower Bracket 2 matchup. WPM closes Day 2 out with a titanic battle in the Upper Bracket 1 semifinal.
