The Filipino squad succumbed to the might of Yu “TS” Tae-seok (유태석) and the rest of the Gen.G squad despite being the heavy favorites to win the contest.
“Alam namin na kami yung better team (We know we were the better team),” Jayvee “DubsteP” Paguirigan stated in a post-match interview. He then disclosed that the team had a few communication blunders in some situations in the course of the series.
Prior to their faceoff, both teams had a clean 2-0 record, with Team Secret winning against Talon Esports and Paper Rex while Gen.G defeating Rex Regum Qeon and DetonatioN FocusMe.
During their series, Team Secret got read like a book as Gen.G heavily countered whatever antics the Adobo Gang tried to do. Team Secret lost Game 1 in Haven 8-13 while Game 2 on Fracture was a much closer 13-11 ending.
As a result, Team Secret is now in the middle of the pack of the VCT 2023: Pacific League standings with a record of 2-1 alongside Paper REx, T1, and ZETA DIVISION. Meanwhile, both South Korean teams are at the top with DRX and Gen.G both having a clean 3-0 record.
Team Secret is set to face their kababayans alongside the Indonesian representatives from Rex Regum Qeon this Saturday, April 15, 2023.
