The highly anticipated Alliance Games group stage in League of Legends has officially begun, and it has already proven to be a thrilling spectacle for esports fans across the Philippines. While several teams put on impressive performances, LG Hydra and Sage Esports truly stole the show. With the playoffs just around the corner, these two powerhouse teams left no doubt as to why they are among the best in the game. From strategic gameplay to impressive team coordination, LG Hydra and Sage Esports showed the other universities why they are the ones to beat in this high-stakes tournament.

Week 1 Results

LG Hydra and Sage Esports were the main highlights of day 1 of the Alliance Games group stage in League of Legends. LG Hydra showcased their strategic gameplay and ruthless execution against Pylon Ypsilos and Oblation Esports. Leaving Pylons in disarray, From using Tristana to crush the Xayah Rakan bot lane duo and to executing a stunning backdoor by Ziggs during the last clash that left Pylons’ nexus in ruins, LG Hydra emerged as the clear victor in a landslide win against Pylons. On the other hand, Oblation Esports fought back valiantly, but it was no match for LG Hydra’s impeccable skills. The match was dubbed “Galatadiff” as LG Hydra emerged as the clear victor, delivering a devastating landslide win.

Meanwhile, Sage Esports soared high against USLS and MGS Mages. With N1csu leading the charge, Sage Esports dominated the matches with team play and ganked across the map. N1csu made sure to secure all four dragons during their victory against USLS. Sage also dominated their second match as they relentlessly camped the bot lane against MGS Mages. Despite the odds against their champion picks (Sylas, Nocturne, Jinx, Thresh, Sion), they kept winning skirmishes that gave them the early game advantage securing an easy win.

Retikano and Oblation Esports might have the chance to catch up as the tournament moves on to the next group stage. Day 1 of League of Legends matches has been an unpredictable group stage for everyone, especially for Sage Esports, who dominated last split’s top collegiate LoL teams.
