The official Call of Duty Mobile (CODM) Esports roadmap for 2023 is here, and its got some interesting developments and revamps.

Check out the recent announcement in a video by CODM Esports YouTube channel below:

CODM announced they will be partnering Snapdragon Pro Series to level up the competition. The multi-year partnership will comprise of two seasons with 1.5 million USD in cash prizes for competitors across the globe.

FEATURED STORIES

The road to CODM World Championship 2023 follows the same format early with Stage 1 and 2 retaining its usual solo and team play requirements. Players can participate in Stage 1 by competing in either of the five ranked modes available (Team Deathmatch, Frontline, Domination, Hardpoint, and Search and Destroy). By showing off in solo play, players can earn in-game rewards including COD points and operators. This hold true for Stage 2 as it still continues with team play to which players must form a team to compete and earn even more rewards.

On the other hand, Stages 3 and 4 have been revamped and will be replaced by the Mobile Open and the Challenge Season respectively. Both of these will take place in seven regional tournaments across the world.

The top 128 teams of Stage 2 will compete in the Mobile Open in a double-elimination bracket. Then, the top 16 of those teams will move to the Mobile Open Finals which will be broadcasted live.

Finally, each region’s top eight teams will advance to the Challenge season where they will be competing in a single-round robin format in a four-week, single round-robin tournament. From here the top four will compete in the Challenge Finals in a double elimination bracket to crown the regional champions.

The Challenge Finals will also serve as the qualification pass for the CODM World Championship 2023 which will be a live, offline LAN event in a place and venue to be revealed later this year. It will have a 1 million USD prize pool, down from 1.7 million USD last year.

In the succeeding year in 2024, the Snapdragon Series will continue with Season 4 set to take place. Approximate date for the Finals of SPS S4 is in Q1 of 2024 with a total prize pool of 150,000 USD. Meanwhile, a new tournament called Mobile Masters will emerge as well with details still left to be revealed. It is slated to be on the early parts of 2024 and is expected to be a LAN event with a prize pool of 200,000 USD.

CODM Esports Settings makeover

Furthermore, the CODM Esports rules and settings will have some changes as well. These will include:

  • New map pool for 2023 circuit – Last year, CODM followed a standard seven map rotation for all modes (Hardpoint, Search and Destroy, and Control). Among those were Standoff, Summit, Firing Range, Raid, Takeoff, Slums and Hacienda. Each team were allowed one map ban then both took turns into selecting from the remaining five maps to be used in the five-game series. This year, CODM updated the map pool with specific maps being assigned to the three modes and no map repeating in each of the modes provided. Below is the new map pool for CODM World Championship 2023:
    • Hardpoint – Summit, Takeoff, Hacienda, Arsenal, Apocalypse
    • Search and Destroy – Slums, Firing Range, Express, Meltdown, Tunisia
    • Control – Raid, Standoff, Crossroads Strike
  • Unique Operator skills for each player – CODM World Champs 2022 featured an operator-ban system per team similar to how map bans work, however this year they are revamping the system. Instead of giving each team one operator to ban per game,  CODM will now impose each player to use a unique operator skill. Before the start of every Hardpoint and Control map, each Team will state the unique Operator skill that will be used by each of their players. The team that picked the map during the veto process will state their unique operator skills first. The team that did not pick the map during the veto process will state their unique operator skills afterwards. Players may only use the operator skill they are stated to use during that map.
  • SKS added to the official banned weapons list – After dominating last year’s World Champs, the SKS marksman rifle is set to be included and banned for future use in the CODM World Champs 2023 and beyond.
