The Philippines has once again secured a medal in esports as SIBOL’s CrossFire squad secured a bronze medal finish in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia.

The SIBOL CrossFire squad is composed of Pacific Macta Infirma’s Aldrin “Aldrin” Borabon, John Kenneth “zYK” Alde, Matthew “EL1” Arnaez, Arthur “Arthur” Tecson, and Christian “Revenge” Amores plus Execration’s Justine “Justine” Perez and coach Braden Francis Catangay.

SIBOL CrossFire started their 32nd SEA Games journey with an impressive undefeated run, taking down host country Cambodia’s representatives and Laos in best-of-1 matchups. With a bronze or better finish secured, they took the first game of their best-of-3 series against Vietnam but were eventually reverse swept, 2-1, which promptly ended their gold medal dreams.

Despite the controversy surrounding the bracketing, SIBOL CrossFire managed to bag the bronze medal as a consolation after they defeated Laos yet again, 3-0, in the bronze medal match.

Although the bronze medal was an outstanding achievement, this was certainly not the expected finish for SIBOL CrossFire as the previous iteration of the squad went home with a silver medal in the last 31st Southeast Asian Games. Furthermore, the Pacific Macta core of the team finished in fourth place at the recently concluded CrossFire Stars APAC Series 2023 Spring.

With SIBOL CrossFire’s bronze, SIBOL now has two medals in the 32nd SEA Games which includes the gold medal from the League of Legends: Wild Rift team.
