Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid succeed in Day 1 of VCT Masters Tokyo 2023 Playoffs
Evil Geniuses (EG) and Team Liquid succeeded in their respective matches during the first day of action at the VALORANT Champions Tour 2023: Masters Tokyo Playoffs.

For the first series of the day, Evil Geniuses took down the Americas League Champion LOUD in just two games. The first game on Fracture ended 13-7 with Cambodian duelist Alexander “jawgemo” Mor leading the team in kills with his 22/13/3. EG then finished the series on Ascent, dominantly beating LOUD to submission 13-5.
Meanwhile, Team Liquid put a stop on EDward Gaming (EDG) as they overcame the Chinese hopefuls 2-1. Liquid won the first game on Haven 13-9 before they subsequently lost to EDG in Split 13-8. Liquid then took the series with a win on the third and final map, Lotus, in a close 13-11.
With their respective wins, Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid advance in the upper bracket of VCT Masters Tokyo 2023. Meanwhile, LOUD and EDward Gaming will faceoff in the first round of the lower bracket to determine who will survive and continue their run in Japan.
