Olea to suit up for WPM LowKings in CDSI Semis

Mark Alexis “Olea” Olea will play for the WPM LowKings in CDSI semis following a unique situation.

The LowKings’ head coach will be filling in the role of main five player Vince “Luffy” Laganse. Luffy encountered problems securing his Chinese visa, paving the way for Olea to be lined up.

“We all applied for our visas simultaneously however, one of us (Luffy) got delayed for some reason. Sadly it didn’t make it, so I got no choice but to play now,” Olea said in an interview. The LowKings’ coach also cited it was a last-minute decision in order for WPM to still make the trip.

The CDSI semis will take place in an offline LAN setup in Wehai City, China. It will be the second time the LowKings will experience a LAN tournament and the first one outside the country.

“This is a rare opportunity, so we’re going to cherish and enjoy it. Have some fun, and explore the city. Being declared champions of CDSI already serves as a bonus,” Olea shared.

The WPM LowKings are one of the two Southeast Asian teams to make it into the final four. Fellow Filipino team Blacklist International’s visa problems led to their disqualification from the competition, allowing Singapore’s ALMGHTY to qualify.

DYG and Wolves, the Chinese CODM giants, await the challenge from WPM and ALMGHTY. Both teams, having secured the first and second positions in China’s CODM league, expect to win on their home turf.

“”[I’m feeling] mixed emotions. With the loss of Luffy, we are not 100% in the upcoming games. We had to adjust multiple roles but still, we will give our best and play confidently,” Olea said.

Olea’s final message

Having said that, Olea asserts that he and the LowKings will give their absolute best to bring pride to the country.

“I am very much happy and blessed to be here. I will enjoy and give my 100% since it has been always my dream to compete in another country. This was super worth it since we had a lot to sacrifice to make it here. We will play for my players who are not here with us and for all of our supporters, family, and friends.”
