VALORANT Champions 2023: DRX qualifies to playoffs, FUT Esports and Evil Geniuses successfully open up Group B

DRX successfully qualified to the playoffs while FUT Esports and Evil Geniuses opened up Group B with their wins on the second day of VALORANT Champions 2023.

First to succeed on the day was FUT Esports as they swept Pacific’s T1 2-0 to start Group B’s matches. FUT demolished T1 on the first game at Pearl by mercilessly going 13-4 and then finishing the series Haven with a 13-7 scoreline.

After that came Evil Geniuses going against FunPlus Phoenix (FPX). Just like the previous series, EG likewise swept China’s FPX in just two short games, finishing both games on Ascent and Pearl with 13-8s.

Finally, DRX secured the first playoff spot of Champions 2023 after they defeated Natus Vincere (NAVI) in a series that went all the way to three games. After shutting out LOUD the previous day, DRX carried over their winning ways to the second day of the tournament in order to send NAVI down to the lower bracket. In the first game, DRX took Bind after two overtimes and won the map 15-13. Unfortunately, NAVI would not go down in a sweep as they quickly recovered and took the second game on Split, which was DRX’s own map pick, with a score of 13-9. With both teams tied one game apiece, DRX ended up as the winner after they overcame NAVI in yet another overtime game on Lotus with the score of 14-12.

With DRX already qualified to the playoffs, both FUT Esports and Evil Geniuses move up to face each other in Group B to determine which team will get their group’s first playoff spot. Meanwhile, T1 and FPX will be facing each other in Group B’s lower bracket while NAVI will be waiting for the winner of Group A’s lower bracket elimination match between LOUD and Team Liquid.
