What motivates the MSC 2024 Filipino bets? ‘Mas gigil kami’
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang teams Team Liquid Echo and Falcons APBren are gearing up for the upcoming MLBB Mid-Season Cup (MSC) 2024 next week. The teams faced the media in a send-off conference ahead of the tournament.
MLBB developer MOONTON Games emphasized the Philippine battle cry for this tournament: Pinas Pataas. MOONTON Games esports marketing manager Harry Leonardo echoed this cry: “The supremacy does not just stop at a local level, where talents have been known to go beyond their limits, becoming highly acclaimed international stars.”
Team Liquid Echo: Mas gigil kami
Recently, ECHO Philippines merged with Team Liquid to form Liquid Echo. MSC 2024 will be the Orcas’ first fight under this new banner. While the new team name did not affect preparations, according to Liquid Echo coach Harold “Tictac” Reyes, their mindset changed. “Naiba ‘yung mindset namin, kasi Team Liquid na ‘yung dala namin.” says coach Tictac. “Mas gigil kami. Mas motivated para makuha ‘tong MSC.”

“Our mindset changed, since we bear Team Liquid’s name now. We’re more eager, more motivated to clinch this MSC title.”
The team is elated to be recognized by the esports giant, too. “Sobrang saya. Kasi sa mga social media [accounts] pino-post nila kami. Tingin ko, sobrang proud [nila].”
“We’re very happy. They post us on their social media accounts. I think they’re very proud of us.”
Liquid Echo is set to face the Saudi Arabian squad Twisted Minds as their first match in MSC 2024. “May data na kami na naka-ready [galing] sa mga past games nila,” declared coach Tictac.
“We have data ready from their past games.”
When asked about teams he sees performing well in the tournament, coach Tictact replied with AP.Bren, Onic Indonesia, and Selangor Red Giants from Malaysia. He lauded the presence of coach Michael “Arcadia” Bocado in the Malaysian team along with the two Filipino imports Mark Genzon “Kramm” Rusiana and John Vincent “Innocent” Banal. SRG blazed through MPL Malaysia Season 13, finishing in first place with no series losses.
Falcons APBren: Para sa baby ni Owgwen
Falcons APBren coach Francis “Ducky” Glindro revealed that each tournament that they participate in, they do it in the name of something specific. “Noong M5, sabi namin, kailangan natin manalo para may pabulaklak sa kasal ni Pheww. Noong Games of the Future, para may pang-sasakyan si Kyle, kailangan natin manalo,” reminisced coach Ducky. “Ngayon, para sa baby ni Owgwen.”
“During M5, we said ‘we need to win for flowers for Pheww’s wedding.’ During Games of the Future, it was for Kyle’s car. Now, for Owgwen’s baby.”

EXP Laner and M5 Finals MVP David “FlapTzy” Canon doubled down on this but he also has a personal goal for this year’s MSC run. “Sa akin, parang sobrang sarap sa feeling na mag-champion,” said FlapTzy. “Kasi ‘yun na lang din kulang ko. MSC na lang, makukumpleto ko na yung major tournaments.”
“For me, it would feel really good to be a champion. MSC’s the only one I lack to complete major tournaments.”
Falcons APBren’s opening match will be against Xianyou Gaming from China. According to coach Ducky, the Chinese squad has game knowledge, but not enough. Despite this, he said that the team is working hard to prepare for their Chinese adversaries.
