Genshin Impact 5.0 update adds Natlan, Teyvat’s sixth region
Genshin Impact has added Natlan, the land of Pyro, in its latest expansion, which went live on Wednesday, August 28.
Players can unlock Natlan on the map by completing Mondstadt’s Archon Quest. They must also finish Liyue’s Archon Quest to unlock the land of Pyro’s Archon Quest.
What’s new in Genshin 5.0?
The most significant update is the addition of Natlan, the sixth playable region. The new region also introduces gameplay content, including domains, expeditions, daily commissions, and exploration mechanics. The update also adds more quality-of-life content and bug fixes.
Travelers can access Natlan after its maintenance period. They can claim Primogems and other compensation items via in-game mail.
Genshin Impact’s 4th Anniversary
All players can get a free standard 5-star character of their choice as part of the celebration for Genshin Impact’s 4th anniversary. They can head to the in-game events page, find “A Quest to Kindle Ancient Flames,” and tap “Invite Character” to claim their free unit.
Artifact Maker
A significant update is the addition of custom artifacts. To customize, players can obtain the “Artifact Transmuter” gadget from the Adventurer Handbook > Embattle. It will consume Sanctifying Elixir to customize Artifacts of the designated Set, Piece, main stat, and some substats. Acquisition of the Sanctifying Elixir is limited.
World Level 9
Players who are at least Adventure Rank 58 can rank up to World Level 9. Doing this will strengthen enemies in the overworld but drop more materials.
Natlan Archon Quest and more
The story of the Traveler continues on Natlan with Archon Quest Chapter V. They and Paimon will meet new allies, encounter new foes, and possibly bring them closer to their long-lost twin. After this update, the first three Acts of this Chapter are now playable.
This new Archon Quest requires players to complete the entirety of Archon Quest Chapter IV, but Genshin Impact is implementing the new “Quick Start” option to bypass this prerequisite. Quick Start is available for all players who have finished Chapter I: Act III.
Moreover, questlines, side stories, and World Quests become available as you progress through Natlan.

New Characters: Mualani, Kinich, and Kachina
Three new playable characters are being added in this update! Mualani (5-star Hydro Catalyst) and Kachina (4-star Geo Polearm) are featured during the patch’s first half. On the other hand, Kinich (5-star Dendro Claymore) will be added in the second half, three weeks after Genshin 5.0 went live.
New Weapons in Genshin Impact 5.0
Three new limited weapons can be acquired: Two 5-star weapons, “Surf’s Up” and “Fang of the Mountain King,” are Mualani’s and Kinich’s signature weapons, respectively. A limited 4-star weapon can be acquired during an in-game event.
The addition of Natlan means a new craftable weapon set exclusive to the region. To acquire weapons from this set, bring a billet and the required materials to Natlan’s blacksmith Alom.

Two new Artifact Sets
These new Artifact Sets can be acquired via Natlan’s Artifact Domain, “Sanctum of Rainbow Spirits.”
Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City
- 2-Piece: When a nearby party member triggers a “Nightsoul Burst,” the equipping character regenerates 6 Energy.
- 4-Piece: After the equipping character triggers a reaction related to their Elemental Type, all nearby party members gain a 12% Elemental DMG Bonus for the Elemental Types involved in the elemental reaction for 15s. If the equipping character is in the Nightsoul’s Blessing state when triggering this effect, all nearby party members gain an additional 28% Elemental DMG Bonus for the Elemental Types involved in the elemental reaction for 20 seconds. The equipping character can trigger this effect while off-field, and the DMG bonus from Artifact Sets with the same name does not stack.
Obsidian Codex
- 2-Piece: While the equipping character is in Nightsoul’s Blessing and is on the field, their DMG dealt is increased by 15%.
- 4-Piece: After the equipping character consumes 1 Nightsoul point while on the field, CRIT Rate increases by 40% for 6 second. This effect can trigger once every second.
New Natlan Enemies
New enemies, including powerful ones, can be encountered in the land of Natlan. Field bosses that drop required materials to strengthen new characters are found in the new region.
