WePlay Season 3 Is Back, Revamps Tournament Format
After a very long hiatus, WePlay Season 3 comes back with a revamped format.
The tournament will now utilize a three-stage format: regional group stages, the regional playoffs and the Local Area Network (LAN) playoffs.
The regional group stages, set to begin on January 23, 2015, will compose of eight teams duking it out in two best-of-one matches, with the top four teams in their respective groups going to the regional playoffs. There, they will play a best-of-three double elimination format in which the top two teams will go to the LAN finals.
The prize pool of this tournament currently sits at $150,000, not including other sources such as ticket and compendium sales.
For the Asian group stage, the Philippines will be represented by Execration and Rave-Dota, both of which have qualified in the earlier stages of the said tournament.
The teams for the Chinese group stage are yet to be announced as of press time.
