joinDOTA Announces MLG Pro League Season #1
joinDOTA, in partnership with Major League Gaming (MLG), announced a global Dota 2 tournament league titled: MLG Pro League Season #1. The first iteration of the league will include teams from Europe, the Americas and Southeast Asia (SEA).
The tournament will start with a round-robin stage on Jan. 24 and will end on March 21. At the conclusion of the group stages, three teams from Europe, two teams from the Americas and the top team from SEA will duke it out in the Season 1 championship to be held at MLG Columbus in Ohio on April 10-12.
The main event will feature a group stage format, with the the top four teams going into a bubble-race bracket.
Big-name teams such as Arcanys Gaming, G-Guard, First Departure and MVP.Phoenix are invited for the SEA round robin in this inaugural season of the league. Despite being known as powerhouses in Dota 2, no Chinese teams have been included in this season of the MLG Pro League.
Here is the base prize pool for the Season 1 championships:
1st place: $30,000
2nd place: $18,750
3rd place: $11,250
4th place: $7,500
5th/6th place: $3,750
