Team Malaysia wins TGS Big Festival Dota 2 Championship
After a single forty-six minute game, Team Malaysia gets the Thailand Game Show Big Festival Dota 2 LAN Championship against Philippines’ own Mineski. Team Malaysia earlier has gotten a winner-bracket advantage after defeating Singapore’s First Departure in the upper bracket final, while Mineski had to fight their way through Indonesia’s nxL and First Departure in the lower brackets in order to gain a shot in the the grand finals of the tournament.
The tournament was held at the Siam Paragon shopping center in Bangkok, Thailand, which is also one of the biggest shopping areas in Asia. The total prize pool for the tournament was 14500 USD, with the third placer getting 1500 USD, the second placer getting 3000 USD, and the champion getting a whopping 10000 USD in prize money.
The other teams who participated in the tournament and were unable to get to the top 3 were Team nxL from Indonesia as well as the homegrown Awake, GCF, 85leela and MiTh-Trust.
It is interesting to note that Philippines’ Mineski has reached to the grand finals despite having to play with two standins, composed of Johnny “JoHnNy” Lee and Ah “ahfu” Fu.
Congratulations to all the three teams for making it to the podium, and congratulations to Team Malaysia for grabbing the championship trophy!
