Vyy Retires From Professional Gaming, WarGods Holds Auditions
In an announcement on WarGods’ official site, Neil Cedric “vyy” San Juan officially announced that he is stepping down from his position as AD Carry and from the professional scene itself.
Vyy is known as a pioneer member of the Manila Eagles, the first Philippine team to compete in the Garena Premier League (GPL), Southeast Asia’s elite League of Legends (LoL) tournament. Throughout his three-year career, he went back and forth from Pacific Gaming to Manila Eagles, before finally settling down to WarGods in October 2014, where the team dominated the pro scene, culminating in winning the Pro Gaming Series (PGS) last month.
An anonymous source told eSports Inquirer that vyy was told by his family to start looking for work outside of eSports. While the competitive gaming industry has grown over the past few years, it hasn’t created a sustainable income for players yet, the source claims.
In light of the announcement, WarGods announced that it will hold auditions for vyy’s replacement, as well as for substitutes in each position.
