During the April Nintendo Direct broadcast earlier, two new characters were officially revealed as Downloadable Content (DLC) for Super Smash Brothers 3DS and Wii U. The game company also asked its community to vote on who could be next in line in the game’s future.

After it was confirmed months ago, Nintendo has finally released its official reveal trailer for Mewtwo, the legendary Pokemon:

Debuted in Melee, Mewtwo was an unlockable character during its first incarnation in the series. Now, it is the first Smash character to be released as a separate purchase from the main game. It is available on April 15 to those who registered on both the 3DS and Wii U versions of Smash Bros. with Club Nintendo, the company’s subscription service.

FEATURED STORIES

The big surprise was the unraveling of Lucas from the classic Mother series:

His first appearance in Brawl, Lucas is the protagonist of Mother 3, in the similar vein as Ness from Earthbound (Mother 2). While the exact date of release hasn’t been disclosed, he is expected to be available sometime in June.

Lastly, Nintendo has created a survey available to everyone in which they could vote on who should be the next character to join the Smash Bros roster.
