DkPhobos Leaves Na’Vi, TI5 Direct Invite In Jeopardy?
Ukrainian team Natus Vincere (Na’Vi) is one man short again as their latest addition left the team Saturday, April 4.
“Today we announce that Alexander “DkPhobos” Kucheria, who has recently transferred to Na`Vi from Asus.Polar, leaves Na`Vi.Dota 2 squad,” said Na’Vi in a statement posted on their website.
However, Na’Vi didn’t give any specific comments or details about the departure of DkPhobos.
“Our squad has been undergoing continuous bad [luck] for some time now. However, we don’t despair and continue searching for the ways to overcome the crisis. As per moment we won’t provide any assessment to what has happened or comment the situation on the whole,” Na’Vi said in the same statement.
With DkPhobos’ departure, the chances that the Ukrainian team will receive a direct invite to the The International 5 (TI5) — the biggest Dota 2 tournament hosted by the game’s publisher, Valve — becomes slimmer with only a month to go before the invitations are sent out.
Na’Vi are former The International champions and have been in three consecutive TI grand finals (TI1, TI2, TI3), placing second in the latter two.
Na’Vi currently plays with Akbar “sonneiko” Butaev as their stand-in. DkPhobos joined Na’Vi on March 9, 2015 as a replacement for the team’s former off-lane player Gleb “Funn1k” Lipatnikov. —with reports from Jasper “Captain Art.” Arcalas
