In an exclusive interview at the sidelines of Major All Stars (MAS) tournament, the biggest Dota 2 tournament in the Southeast Asian (SEA) region, Joel “XtiNcT” Chan Zhan Leong pointed out that SEA teams usually lag behind other professional teams in terms of “training.”

“When I joined lower tier teams, they weren’t doing what we were doing [in Team Titan]… I think they are not serious enough,” XtiNcT explained.

According to the eSports veteran, SEA teams usually don’t have the discipline to truly determine what goes wrong in their games, preferring only to keep playing without brainstorming and debriefing after scrimmage matches.

XtiNcT also said that SEA teams usually “copy” game styles from other professional teams.

“They just watch the games in China and copy their style. If they can think of on how to counter these styles that will be better but there’s no such a person [in SEA]. I think the closest is Mushi,” he said.

XtiNcT is a former WarCraft 3 professional player and a veteran of the DotA scene. He has served as a capable member on many successful teams in SEA, including Orange eSports, Titan, Team Malaysia and as the captain of Nirvana.My.
