The first ever organized event by Philippine eSports Organization (PeSO) in partnership with Gameclub Philippines is now open for registration!

Following the landmark partnership between videogame publisher GameClub and the Philippine eSports Organization (PeSO), CrossFire — the largest First-person Shooter (FPS) eSports title in the world — will now be included in the Razer National eSports Xtreme Tournament (NeXT).

In an effort to raise the bar for the FPS tournament scene in the country, the inclusion of CrossFire into the uniquely competitive platform of Razer NeXT will see players and teams rewarded for advancing through each stage of the competition and will allow the gamers in areas such as Batangas, Cavite, Pampanga, Iloilo, Davao, Bacolod and Cebu to compete against the best of Manila.

In a statement, Irymarc Gutierrez, Executive Director of PeSO, said that the format will encourage teams to compete to know who is the best among the best in their respective regions.

“The tournament will still follow Razer NeXT’s Northern and Southern Conference setup. The challenge in hosting a nationwide Crossfire event is we have to make sure that everything is observed by a marshal in order to make sure that there is no cheating,” Gutierrez said.

“What we will do is we will have exclusive cafe partners in the area of Manila, Cavite, Pampanga and Batangas (Northern conference) and Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod and Davao (Southern conference) where gamers can play the tournament. This is actually a first time in Crossfire history and I’m sure its going to be exciting given that anyone from Manila can compete against Cavite without needing to spend on travel expenses,” he added.

“This way, we believe that this can make the competition more balanced and this will surely help our gamers from non-manila areas to have continuous tournaments. PeSO has been trying to bring eSports nationwide and as much as possible we want to change the manila centric culture in organizing tournaments and I I think that this is the best first step in achieving that goal for the Crossfire community,” he said.

Teams may register for the event online but will play in the competition through participating internet café shops near their location. A maximum of 32 teams will be allowed to join and play for each of the participating branches.
