Tomorrow marks another day for Crossfire and FPS enthusiasts out there as the second stage of the Razer NeXT tournament will commence, featuring the surviving teams from the harrowing elimination stage which was concluded a couple of weeks ago at designated Internet cafes all over the country.

The second stage actually begins with the Southern Conference as technical issues prevented the said conference from determining their final four. Thus, Team NxA (Cebu) and TigaSogid (Davao) will fight for the last slot in the group stage of the Southern Conference at 1:00 p.m., Philippine Standard Time. Sub Base is up for the taking; it is a map which contains many opportunities for fast rotations between both teams. Similar to the previous stage, the first team who gets ten rounds on the board wins.

After this particular matchup, the winner goes on to face Cebu’s Spammers, Iloilo’s EnjoyUrself and Bacolod’s TeamPAF at 2:00 p.m., with Black Widow to be the map of choice. The map is basically a reworked version of Dust 2. There are many opportunities for both sides to execute on a particular site due to the map’s structure, as well as for snipers to dominate the map due to its open spaces and wide alleys. The group stage will be in a round-robin format with the following point system:

A. One match win gives 10 points
B. One match loss gives 3 points
C. One round win gives 1 point, regardless of how the match turns out
D. Not showing up for the match gives 0 points

Based on the system above, a team can theoretically rack up 20 points per match win. At the same the “round win” system motivates teams to give their best as a 10-8 loss actually gives a good amount of points for the losing team (3+8=11 points) in comparison to a 10-5 loss (3+5=8 points), which is actually a great tool in determining who gets to the next stage!

Mark your calendars tomorrow, April 25, as smoke grenades and flash bangs will rain all over once again on the battlefields of Crossfire!
