The Summit 3: Three Must-Watch Games
Aside from shedding light on how professional players act behind the screens, The Summit never fails to provide one of the best matches in Dota 2. Now on its third season, some of the upcoming games in the next few hours are must-watch series for fans who want to fully experience what Dota 2 is all about.
From classic player rivalries to a first-time match between two teams, get ready for some good old-fashioned digital sports.
Evil Geniuses vs. Secret
People were surprised in hearing the player reshuffle. Artour ‘Arteezy’ Babaev, dubbed as ‘the prodigy’ by some due to his prowess in Dota 2, along Ludwig ‘Zai’ Wåhlberg left Evil Geniuses to join Team Secret.
Meanwhile, Evil Geniuses welcomed the 15-year old Syed ‘Sumail’ Hassan, a Dota 2 prodigy in his own right, and Kurtis ‘Aui_2000’ Ling from Cloud 9. These two teams facing off have the makings of a classic — and the ensuing couch time after-game interviews even more memorable.
Their clash will be one to look out for. These two teams never let the audience down in giving them a good game to watch.
Also, everyone wants to see Arteezy and Sumail play against each other to prove who is the better mid-laner. That might be enough reason to watch their game. That and the hope that some trash-talking between the two will ensue.
NoToday vs. Invictus Gaming
Dota 2 is holding a lot of tournaments in a year and the teams play against each other almost every tournament. It will be refreshing to see new matches between whole continents come to front.
NoToday vs. Invictus Gaming is a match-up that simply has never taken place. There is slight tinge of excitement in thinking what could possibly happen. Sure enough, NoToday has lesser odds of winning compared to Invictus Gaming but they still have a chance given the raw talent of Freddy “SmAsH” Sina. Will it be a case of David squaring off with Goliath or will it be a steamroll affair? Whatever the outcome, seeing two regions of Dota 2 come together on the tournament floor (or in this case, tournament bedrooms) is always fascinating.
Vici Gaming vs. Rave
What’s more exciting than watching the last season’s champion battle it out against our very own Rave? The first game to start off The Summit 3 LAN Finals. VG has already proven themselves worthy of being called one of the best teams out there. They placed second during The International 4 because of the top-notch support of Xu ‘fy’ Linsen and Lu ‘Fenrir’ Chao.
They are the strongest team in the tournament. Their battle with Rave squarely places the Korea-based team squarely as the underdogs.
But Rave also has proven themselves. They have won several tournaments during the past year such as the Mineski Pro Gaming League (MPGL) season 6 Grand Finals and The Korean Dota 2 League season 4. Both teams know what it’s like to beat the odds, so expect them to give their full potential during their fight. Not to mention Kevin “Hotbid” Cheng ‘sparking’ a rivalry between Michael ‘ninjaboogie’ Ross and Daryl ‘iceiceice’ Koh Pei Xiang during an interview but it’s all fun.
But with all the upcoming matches in The Summit 3, no one can really know which game will be the most exciting and memorable. One reason why people love Dota 2 is its unpredictability; that nail-biting feeling that makes eSports worthwhile. All that is left to do is to sit back and witness the many marvels of the game.
