First ever tournament in Thailand to be sponsored by a beer company
The Southeast Asian Dota 2 scene continues to thrive as Thailand will hosts its first major tournament for Dota 2, the Dota 2 Battle Arena. In line with this, the tournament will be sponsored by one of major companies in the country: Singha Corporation Co., Ltd. The tournament is the third major tournament that will be held in South East Asia with over $100,000 prize money.
Aside from Singha Corp, organizers are also working on including Thai Airways into the sponsorship deal. Sources said that they are optimistic about the inclusion of the airline company and it will be the second airline company in the world that will sponsor a Dota 2 tournament.
Head organizer and former manager of MiTH.Trust, Piyatat ‘Toy‘ Bunnag, still think that the tournament has a lot to work on but they will do their best to catch up.
“I am hoping that this tournament would set the precedent to all other tournaments organizers in SEA to step up their game,” he said.
Although the official date is still yet to be settled, Dota 2 Battle Arena is initially set to start on November 13-15, 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand with a total of eight teams participating all across the globe. Two teams will be participating from Europe, one team from China, one team from the Americas and four teams from South East Asia. Qualifiers will be held after The International 5 that will be held in August.
