In a statement on social media, Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino sends a message to the three Philippine teams who are taking part in the Southeast Asia (SEA) Qualifiers of The International (TI) 5, to be held at the Key Arena in Seattle from August 3-8 this year.

The International is considered to be the game’s premier tournament, featuring sixteen of the best teams from all over the world.

Mineski, TnC Gaming and Rave are about to duke it out against their SEA counterparts for a chance to get a slot to this year’s TI for a chance to get a slice of the multi-million dollar prize pool as well as the honor of representing the Philippines in one of the largest and most lucrative tournaments in Esports.

In the message, Senator Aquino mentions that “tournament will serve as another stage to showcase the Filipinos’ immense talent in the online video gaming community and to the rest of the world.”

Commencing on May 29, Friday, at 11:00 a.m. PH time, the Southeast Asia Qualifiers will feature Rave going up against Invasion E-sports in Group B. This will be followed by TnC Gaming facing off against 5eva in Group A at 1:30 p.m.

Only two teams from the SEA Qualifier will earn the right to go to Seattle, with the first placer going directly to the Main Event and the second placer to fight against the runner-ups of the Chinese, Americas and European Qualifiers in the Wildcard playoffs to determine the last two teams competing at the Key Arena.

The senator is known for supporting the local video game industry and he is best remembered among the Filipino Dota 2 community for helping Rave to get Visas to the Summit 3 as well as solving their problems with the Bureau of Immigration.
