FACEIT Launches Southeast Asia Servers
FACEIT, one of the world’s most popular pick-up game (PUG) and gaming league clients, launched an update which added several tweaks and opened its doors to Southeast Asian Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) players on Friday, May 29.
The new server addition is in response to the numerous requests coming from the SEA community for stakeholders to give more support to the regional CS:GO scene.

FEATURED STORIES
After hordes of players quickly filled up the initial server offering, the gaming service decided to add 16 servers in order to accommodate the rapid increase in player demand. The client service is currently working on increasing its server capacity in Southeast Asia as it aims to reach out to more players.
In order to attract more players to the client and to promote their maiden launch, FACEIT is conducting a “Launch Cup” with a prize pool of $1,500, with four of SEA’s top CS:GO teams to be invited and four more teams to go through different qualifiers.
Here are the rest of the changes to the gaming client:
New features
- Ladder selection is no longer required after the first time (finally!)
- Matching sound and volume can now be customized no matter your membership level
- Team leader selection is now based on premium and skill level (highest skill level out of premium members in a team will be selected as leader)
- Added language selection for beta users with Spanish and Portuguese as initial languages (dot dot dot…)
Miscellaneous
- Refactor on tournament scoreboard to decrease load times for large tournaments
- Fixed CSS bugs for new Chrome version
- Fixed a number of bugs related to premium subscriptions through alternative payment methods
- Added a number of efficiency improvements to decrease infrastructure load
FACEIT is also known for hosting The International 5 European, Americas and Southeast Asia Qualifiers, as well as broadcasting many high-level CS: GO games worldwide.
