In what could be considered as one of the greatest surprises in the SEA Dota 2 scene, UK-based Esports organization Fnatic have absorbed the Team Malaysia squad into their ranks. The organization has been looking for a suitable roster since the year 2014, after the previous squad disbanded in the aftermath of The International 4.

Here is what Patrik “cArn” Sättermon, the company’s Chief Operating Officer, has to say about the matter:

We are delighted to welcome Mushi and co. to Fnatic and continue Fnatic’s legacy in Dota. Throughout the years we’ve had presence in this amazing game and great support from the community. For six months we have been searching for a team fit enough to wear our name and play under the black and orange colors. In this team, we find a great group of people to represent our brand and we are very much looking to help them elevate their game to the highest level by supporting them in every way! It’s exciting to be working with players from the SEA region again as well as being part of the glorious Dota 2 universe again! Onto the aegis!

As for Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung, he has the following words regarding the team’s acquisition:

FEATURED STORIES

I am very excited to be playing under the name Fnatic. Fnatic is a really legendary name in eSports and I am sure we can go to greater heights under their sponsorship. If you don’t remember, in 2010, Fnatic sponsored my good friends in XCN and they were one of the first Western eSports organisation to invest in the South East Asian scene. I am happy that they have set their sights for South East Asia again and hope that many will follow the lead.

The new Fnatic squad is to compete in the MLG JoinDota Pro League Season 2 LAN Finals, followed by the ESL Frankfurt LAN Finals on June 20 and finally at this year’s The International, which is considered to be the leading premier Dota 2 tournament.
