In the latest Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) patch dated Wednesday, June 10, several new features have been added to CS:GO. The newest game update include the addition of new in-game achievements, sound fixes and miscellaneous functions, as well as lifting Overwatch out of beta and introducing new restrictions to competitive matchmaking (MM).

One of the most notable changes in this update is that Overwatch is now finally in full force, which means that more players can join the body of investigators who serve the CS:GO community than before, thus allowing more cases to be reviewed and solved immediately. To make the task more palatable to prospective players, the system now offers an experience reward to the user’s Profile Rank for accurate Overwatch verdicts, which comes after a sufficient amount of verdicts have been reached.

The other significant change that rolled out today is that competitive MM now requires a specific Profile Rank, which is set to Private Rank 3 at the moment. Valve states that they will “continue to evaluate this restriction over time” as they are figuring out the best way to introduce new players to the MM servers.

Overwatch is a self-regulative system that allows qualified and experienced members of the community to review reports of disruptive behavior and cheating, determine whether those reports are legitimate and apply the necessary sanctions for each case involved. Minor cases such as griefing are penalized lightly in comparison to more serious cases such as cheating in-game.
