TI5 Prizepool Reaches 14 Million
Vavle is only $1 million short in reaching their stretch goal for The International 5 (TI5) as prizepool reaches $14 million, the newest record for the highest prizepool in competitive gaming. It further surpassed the $10 million prizepool record during The International 4 last year.
With over 10 million unique players, the continued increase of the prizepool showed the full support of players for Dota 2. The initial prize only amounted to $1.6 million and the TI5 compendium, where 25% of sales go to the prizepool, and the Collector’s Cache contributed over $12 million to the current prizepool of $14,046,825. The new record unlocked the new weather effects that can be used in-game.
The last stretch goal to be unlocked is the Special Axe Immortal and a Longform Comic once the prizepool reaches $15 million. There is still one month to achieve the stretch goal before the main event on August in the Key Arena Seattle, USA. Vavle has yet to announce the prize distribution.
