Razer Concept Store in the Philippines? Razer CEO Bares Why
In a statement on his official Facebook account, Min-Liang Tan, the CEO of gaming peripheral maker Razer, told inquisitive fans why his company decided to open a Razer Concept Store in the Philippines.
Tan mentioned that despite the fact that there are other lucrative and more accessible markets out there, the company chose to open a store in the country because they wanted to give value to a community that is known for its passion of gaming.
He also mentions that once the RazerStore opens here, the company will host another poll in order to determine the next feasible location for their concept stores.
His full statement reads:
I believe it’s no longer a secret that the Razer fans in Philippines came together to vote it as the destination for our next Razerstore when we ran the poll.
However, I’ve been getting a lot of messages like “Why bother with PH? You’ll make more money if you set up a store in [XYZ]!”
I’m sure we’d make more money if we set up the next Razerstore in some countries other than Philippines – but that’s not what we’re about. Money isn’t everything to us – the community means a lot more to us. The community, the fans – means a lot to me.
So it’s not about how much money we can make or how much we can sell etc – it’s about the community, it’s about our fans, it’s about our love for gaming and the gamers around us. And that’s why the next flagship store is going to be in the Philippines, even when it doesn’t make financial sense for us – because it makes perfect sense for our fans there.
For Gamers. By Gamers.
PS: We’ll run another poll after our next RazerStore opens and see where our community wants us to open next! So you’ll know what to do when we run the next poll!
His statement has been received positively by the Filipino gaming community, with many enthusiasts posting messages of gratitude and appreciation on Tan’s Facebook page.
The Razer Concept Store will open later this July at SM North Edsa.
