Even with their loss Empire and Cloud 9 are still able to secure a $200 thousand (P9 million) prize money but there is still a chance for both teams to climb back up from the lower brackets. If one of them can defeat the other teams in the lower bracket, they can climb back up and become this year’s The International champion. Empire will be facing Korean team, MVP.Phoenix and Cloud 9 will fight against Vici Gaming (VG).
Meanwhile it was a crucial battle for the teams in the lower bracket especially when two former TI champions already bid farewell in reclaiming the title. Aside from Na’Vi and Newbee, Team Fnatic was also eliminated from the tournament when they were beaten by European team, Virtus Pro.
However the TI2 winner, Invictus Gaming (IG), beat the Korean team, MVP.Hot6 and they are still fighting their way to become the two-time TI champion.
