Update: GAMEX.Wargods’ Claims Being Challenged
UPDATE (8/14/2015 Friday | 1:00 PM):
Mineski League of Legends team manager, Roy Christian Inciong, in an exclusive interview with eSports by INQUIRER.net, challenged the claims made by the Wargods organization in their official statement, stating that many of the issues raised by Wargods “did not happen.”
The Mineski League of Legends team is also a competitor in the Pro Gaming Series (PGS), overseen by Garena Philippines.
Inciong responded to the Wargods management’s claims that Garena Philippines and the PGS team mangers — specifically Imperium Pro Team and Mineski — suggested that the P150,000 winnings their professional team earned for landing second place in the Heroes of the Storm tournament should be shared among the other teams in the PGS, as a form of punishment.
Inciong categorically denied these claims, stating that the issue of splitting Wargod’s prize winnings was never even raised.
In an interview with eSports by INQUIRER.net’s managing editor, Paolo Bago, Inciong reiterated that many of Wargod’s claim were false.
“They are claiming that (Garena and other PGS team managers suggested that Wargods share their winnings across the other teams),” Inciong said. “But no, that topic was not even discussed.”
Inciong added that Wargod’s false claims may shed undue doubt on the integrity of the Mineski League of Legends team. The team is mulling legal action.
“I am already asking my lawyer if we can file a libel case. Wargods management, specifically WG Antz, asserted that we are involved in pushing Garena to suggest Wargods to share their team’s prize.”
eSports by INQUIRER.net contacted Garena Philippines. They clarified that the issue of Wargod’s sharing profits from entering another videogame tournament outside of their contract obligations never transpired.
Original story below: GAMEX.Wargods Releases Official Statement on PGS Ruling
After the Pro Gaming Series (PGS) team recently announced a ruling disqualifying GAMEX.Wargods from competing in the PGS 2015 Summer Split, the organization has released their official response on the matter.
After a short recapitulation of the events that transpired before the initial report of said contract breach, GAMEX.Wargods proceeded to give a summary of the actions they have taken during the entire affair. In their statements, the gaming organization alleged actions from Garena that they found disagreeable, which lead to their actions.
What will happen to the P150,000 they received in winning from the Heroes Of The Storm Tournament
In the statement, Wargod’s alleged that Garena made a suggestion that the money be split between the remaining participants of the PGS was rejected by GAMEX.Wargods, citing the reason behind their refusal that the money in question did not come from Garena and its affiliated partners, but rather another sponsor altogether.
What would’ve happened if GAMEX.Wargods accepted the suggestion of Garena
According to their statement, even if GAMEX.Wargods complied with the initial idea of Garena, the team would still be disqualified from competing any further in the PGS.
Why they participated in the HotS tournament
The team participated in the Heroes of the Storm tournament as part of a contract between Wargods Internet Cafe and PlayPark (the Philippine publisher for HotS) as part of their promotional campaign for the game itself. GAMEX.Wargods clarify that this contract was drafted and signed before the beginning of the PGS 2015 Summer Split. Furthermore, this contract contained a no-exclusivity cause, meaning that they had no intention of it interfering in further participation of the then-upcoming PGS Split.
The shortcomings of Garena and the PGS committee
GAMEX.Wargods then proceeded to explain the events that transpired during the Manager’s Meeting that took place before the start of the PGS. The agreement was apparently not discussed fully or thoroughly in said meeting. Furthermore, the copy of the agreement was sent to GAMEX.Wargods’s management thru email 5 days after the start of the PGS.
When asked as to why Garena did not disclose all of the terms outline in the agreement during the orientation, Garena states that the drafts was posted via Facebook group, a sensitive document posted via Social Media, for the teams and managers to view before the PGS began, which leaves the management under the impression that Garena implies that there is no need for them, the tournament organizer/host to review the terms of the agreement during the meeting. While Wargods accepts that the management is in fact obliged to review the said document, the management would also like to stress out that it is also the organizer or the hosts obligation to discuss it with the involved parties. When asked about this matter, a Riot Games Community Coordinator also notes that it’s not the obligation of the organizer to discuss the terms of the agreement as the teams were already handed out copies, do note that this statement came from the Coordinator’s personal perspective and not an official statement from either Garena or Riot Games.

The implementation of said (violated) clause
While the clause that GAMEX.Wargods breached did in fact exist in previous PGS seasons as it does now, the management also cited several cases where said clause was breached, but the clause was not strictly enforced.
The management also points out non-publicized violations involving the selling of PGS granted RPs but in contrast to the sanction handed over to Wargods, the involved party was only made to pay cash fines and have the sold items recovered. The management cannot help but compare this issue, as it also involves agreement violations, and the violation came from not 1 but 2 PGS participating teams.

The statement then closed with GAMEX.Wargods Management’s questions and concerns about said ruling, restating the points above.
Clarifications
GAMEX.Wargods representative “WG.Antz” has added further clarifications to the statement in online posts, stating that the sanction was already applied before a scheduled meeting with Garena, and her thoughts on the length and thoroughness of the orientation seminar.
