The First Ever Manila Cup 2015 Coming This September
EVO might have just ended last month, but the largest local fighting game event is still coming over the horizon.
This September, prep up your arcade sticks and fight pads, hit that training mode and get ready for Manila Cup 2015 at the Imperium e-Sports bar and Video Game Lounge in Pasig. It is the first ever international fighting game major to be held in the country.
Ultra Street Fighter 4 will be highlighted as the main event, with Manila Cup being included as a Ranking tournament for the Capcom Pro Tour. For those unfamiliar and new to the fighting game scene, The Capcom Pro Tour (CPT for short) is a year-long tournament circuit started back in 2013. It is where players from all over the globe compete for an invitation to participate in the Capcom Cup to be held at the end of the year. There are a total of 32 slots for Capcom Cup 2015, 15 of which go to the top ranked players based on global standings. Winners for Ultra Street Fighter 4 at Manila Cup will be rewarded with CPT points to bump up their current placing at the worldwide leaderboards, so expect international professional players to attend and participate.
Not into Street Fighter? Not a problem, for there will be five other titles you can compete in and spectate at the event. Games included in Manila Cup’s line-up this year are Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat X, Guilty Gear Xrd, Blazblue Chronophantasma Extend and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
There hasn’t been a better time to be a fighting game devotee here in the Philippines. Whether you’re competing to be a top level player or just enjoy watching high-level play from the best players the local scene has to offer, Manila Cup 2015 definitely has something in store for you.
Manila Cup 2015 will be hosted by the Imperium e-Sports bar and Video Game Lounge, located at Metrowalk Pasig, from September 4 – 6, 2015. The games will be streamed at twitch.tv/capcomfighters for USF4 and twitch.tv/xsplit for the other games.
