Razer NeXT CrossFire Tournament Wave 5: Pacific.Macta Takes Fifth Championship with Style
After having to endure a very close battle with Cebu’s very own WattzKing in the previous edition of the tournament, Pacific.Macta decided to change gears and beat sister team Pacific.Wara in two quick maps in order to take their fifth Razer NeXT CrossFire Tournament title.
More than 80 teams from all over the country participated in this wave of the tournament, once again showcasing many of the country’s finest CrossFire teams from the North and the South.
So Close, Yet So Far: WattzKing versus Pacific.Wara
Many were looking forward to another Manila-Cebu final as WattzKing was matched up with Pacific.Wara in the semi-finals of the tournament.
The dream was shattered when Pacific.Wara decided to step up their aiming power and map execution. The Manila team got the first ticket to the finals after beating WattzKing 10-9 on Mexico and 10-8 on Sub Base.
The results ensured that Pacific.Wara is now back in the finals after their last appearance in the second leg of the tournament before they were ousted by Macta Infirma II in the third edition.
Another Day at the Office: Pacific.Macta versus Decapitatorz
In the other semi-final match-up, things were as pristine as they could be for the defending champions as they destroyed the Cebuanos with a scoreline of 10-2 on Mexico and 10-5 on Sub Base.
With this performance, Pacific.Macta was able to get their 5th finals appearance in a row.
The Anti-Climactic Ending: Pacific.Wara versus Pacific.Macta
Once again, fans who were expecting a three-map final were disappointed as Pacific.Macta went on a rampage, ending it 2-0.
The four-time Razer NeXT CrossFire Tournament champions tore apart their rivals with a score of 10-5 on Port and 10-3 on Black Widow, making sure that their sister team never had a chance of breaking their winning streak.
This time around, the South could not get a team into the finals despite being able to achieve that goal in the previous edition of the tournament.
With ESF CrossFire 2015 just lying around the corner, can they finally win on home soil?
