DreamHack Open Cluj Opens Doors to the Asian Region
In an effort to help grow the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive scene outside of Europe, North America and Oceania, leading tournament organizers DreamHack joined hands with leading pickup game (PUG) client FACEIT in order to do a two-stage pre-qualifier for the Asian region.
The first stage, beginning on September 5 this weekend, will feature an open qualifier that can accommodate up to 256 teams from all over the continent in a best-of-one single elimination bracket. The games for this stage will be done on FACEIT’s Singaporean servers at 2:00 p.m. PH local time, with the calls to be done at 12:00 noon. Only four teams will go on to the next stage of the pre-qualifier.
On the following day, September 6 at 3:00 p.m., the top four teams from the open qualifier will go on to face Asia’s elite in a best-of-three single elimination bracket, with the winning team to represent Asia at DreamHack Open Stockholm to be held later this year. The winning team will have their travel, food and accommodation expenses paid by the tournament organizers.
DreamHack Open Stockholm will serve as the offline qualifier for the next CS: GO major to be held at DreamHack Open Cluj on October 28-November 1 at the Polyvalent Hall in Cluj, Romania.
Invited teams include QueeYou from China, myRevenge from Korea, MVP.Karnal from Malaysia and Skyred from Vietnam.
