Biggest Comeback: Alliance Ends The Frankfurt Majors European Qualifiers with a Bang
With only the throne remaining on the side of Alliance, the Swedish team held their ground and ended The Frankfurt Majors European Qualifiers with Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP.Dota2) heartbroken, viewers hyped and casters speechless.
It looked like a win for NiP.Dota2 and a deciding game three as they took down Alliance one barracks after another. But Alliance didn’t throw the towel just yet and persistently defended their base. Eventually, they got their opening and won the deciding team fight that led them to victory.
Alliance’s Witch Doctor, played by Joakim “Akke” Akterhall, gave a winning ultimate and Jonathan “Loda” Berg’s Alchemist chopped through all of NiP.Dota2’s heroes. This resulted to a five-hero wipe with only two buybacks from the opposing team. Alliance went for the throne and won the last golden ticket to Germany for the European Qualifier.
From the lower brackets, Alliance climbed their way up when no one expected it. They were one of Dota 2’s best, from winning The International last 2013, popularly remembered by their style of Rat Dota. But they recently went through a setback. They had a lot of roster changes and experienced a lot of losses that led them to a temporary break from the competitive scene. But it looks like they are slowly climbing up with their recent performance in The Frankfurt Major and The Summit 4 European Qualifiers.
Alliance advances in the group stage that will be on November 16. Joining them will be team (monkey), who won the winner bracket without a sweat, and the winners from the Southeast Asian Qualifiers.
