The Capcom Pro Tour continued this weekend with a Premier tournament over at Tokyo, Japan: the Ultra Hyakkishu Cup 2015.

Fresh off his win at SCR 2015 this past week, team Red Bull’s Masato “Bonchan” Takahashi was once again front and center in grand finals coming from winners. This time he was facing off against probably the best Rolento player in the world and currently the number one player in the Japanese arcade rankings, Naoki “Nemo” Nemoto.

The match started strong for Nemo, using an ultra to punish a badly spaced Tiger Shot to take round one. He would take first game with help from a couple of key mistakes by Bonchan in round two.

FEATURED STORIES

Second game was Bonchan’s turn to answer back. After baiting an ultra off of Nemo, he answered back with an ultra of his own to win first round. Nemo would take round two thanks to smart use of Rolento’s mix up game. However Bonchan would close it out in the final round utilizing proper zoning to wittle down Rolento’s health.

Game three went by quickly as Nemo asserted dominance once again. He caught everyone by surprise when he used Rolento’s jump forward roundhouse to beat out a Tiger Uppercut from Bonchan to take first round. In round two, Bonchan took an early life lead to gain the upperhand. On the brink of losing, Nemo managed to land a hit and combo it to his ultra. The comeback won him game two to lead the set 2-1.

All seemed to be going Nemo’s way as he got a perfect round to start off game four. On the verge of a bracket reset, Bonchan collected himself and managed to win round two after an almost comeback from Nemo. The momentum continued in the final round and Bonchan managed to even the score 2 – 2.

All stakes were now down to the fifth and final game of the set. Bonchan continued his streak as he took first round convincingly. Seeing his tournament life on the line, Nemo answered back and quickly took the second round. The final round started with Nemo getting a quick stun on Bonchan and it seemed a bracket reset was imminent. With almost no health left, Bonchan went for a wake up Tiger Uppercut into ultra, putting Nemo in the corner and halting his momentum. A combo and a corner mixup from Sagat evened out the life deficit between the two competitors. Back at neutral position, Bonchan would go back to his zoning game to close out the fight and win the championship.

Since Bonchan already qualified in SCR, Nemo takes the slot and becomes the 13th player to secure a spot at Capcom Cup. In terms of points, Bonchan now sits at 3rd place from his previous 6th while Nemo bumps his ranking up to 11th coming from 14th.
