ESL Announces Groups and Schedules for ESL One Manila
By: Andre “Dale” Gueco
ESL has announced the groups and schedules for ESL One Manila earlier today.
The group stage will follow a full double-elimination format to determine which teams will be heading to the playoffs. All matches will be played in a best-of-three series.
Here are the two groups for this tournament:
Group A
Group A will include some big-name teams such as Team Liquid, who have just placed second at the Shanghai Major; compLexity, who are looking forward to make it big in this group and Wings, which have come out of the Chinese Qualifier by beating teams such as Vici Gaming and LGD in the process.
Of course, Philippines’ very own Mineski is in this group, as they look forward to make history by being the first Filipino team to get to the playoffs of the first-ever major Dota 2 LAN event held in the country.
Group B
- Team Secret
- EHOME
- Fnatic
- Team Empire
With Secret, EHOME, Fnatic and Empire lumped altogether in a single group, Group B is arguably the “Group of Death” for this tournament. All of the above teams are powerhouses in their own respective regions, so it is reasonable to expect that most of the matches in this group will go the full distance.
