League of Legends is Now Included in Australia’s Largest College Sports Event
eSports is surely gaining acceptance, even as a sporting title among university athletes.
Riot Games, the publishers of popular MOBA League of Legends (LoL), have announced yesterday that the game title is now officially included in Unigames, Australia’s largest sporting event for college students.
Unigames is managed by Australian University Sport (AUS), which is the governing body of university sports in Australia and attracts to some 15,000 student-athletes from tertiary institutions all over the region.
University students from the Oceanic region are allowed to take part in the event, which will compose of a four-stage event that will culminate in this year’s Australian University Games to be held at Perth this coming September 25-30.
As a result, League of Legends is now among the 39 sporting disciplines that are included in the multi-sport university event.
