Senator Aquino Calls to eSports Communities: “Show your support and prayers for our teams. Share #LetPHPlay”
In order to get TNC Pro Team and Execration on track to make it to this years The International, a Filipino senator is calling on the undivided support and attention of the greater Philippine gaming community.
On Saturday, July 23, Senator Benigno Paolo “Bam” Aquino met with the team owners of TNC Pro Team and Execration, as well as representatives from orgs in the local esports industry to discuss updates on the visa issues currently plaguing both teams.
According to staff members of the office of the senator, all parties involved are currently on the same page with regards to securing visas for both teams. At the moment, the teams and the Philippine government have submitted all relevant documentation to the US bodies concerned. The next few days will be crucial as fans of local esports wait with bated breath on the decision.
In a message, Senator Aquino asked the Filipino fans to lend their support and prayers by spreading awareness on the plight of TNC Pro Team and Execration.
The office of the senator released a photo on Facebook with the caption: “We need your support and prayers. Please like and share to show your support to our Filipino DOTA players. Tweet and post using the hashtag #LetPHPlay. Salamat!”
Tryke Gutierrez, executive director of the Philippine eSports Organization, issued a statement of support, urging the fans to raise the banner for the two teams.
TNC Pro Team won the first Southeast Asian Qualifier for The International 6 in late June, becoming the first Filipiino professional Dota 2 team to qualify for the prestigous event. Execration came in second place at the second qualifier, earning them a spot at the last chance Wildcard qualifier in Seattle this August.
The prize pool for the The International 6 is currently worth $18.2 million, or P855 million. The International 6 main event begins on August 3, in Seattle, USA.
