Acclaim Empire X (AEX) is in a stable spot after garnering a 1-1 record in the 2nd day of the Garena Premier League held in Vietnam yesterday.
AEX bowed down to the Vietnamese powerhouse Saigon Jokers (SAJ) in their first match of the GPL. However, they bounced back in the competition after winning a lopsided victory against Kanaya Gaming (KG).

The Filipino Squad is currently sitting with 2 wins and 2 losses in the tournament.

AEX drafted a composition similar to what they drafted against Imperium Pro Team, which led to them winning the Pro Gaming Series. On the other hand, SAJ opted for high damage and mobility champions such as Hecarim and Vladimir.

FEATURED STORIES

The strategy of AEX didn’t click early on in the game. The composition of AEX relies on Jenvi, their AD carry, getting fed in the bot lane while their top and mid laners act as peelers. SAJ pressured the bot lanes, giving their AD carry a hard time securing kills and objectives.

It was a one-sided match, as SAJ strolled easily in the frontlines of AEX. They were also outplayed in all lanes. SAJ eventually took objectives one by one until they went for the nexus, giving AEX their first loss in the 2nd day.

AEX drafted a team centered on team clash while KG focused more on carries that deal high damage like Aurelion Sol and Tristana

It was not looking good for AEX in the early game, as KG is stacking kills and securing objectives. AEX also had a hard time flanking KG’s carries. AEX then rose from the ashes in the late game as they were getting good engages from Tamzu’s Sejuani. Jenvi also had a good performance, getting a triple kill and a quadra kill.

AEX then decided to go for the Elder and inhibitor towers, putting the final nail in the coffin for KG.

AEX will be facing Vestigial today in the 3rd and final game of the group stages. The top 4 teams will then face off in the playoff round in a best-of-three series. /JE/
