ICYMI: The Philippine Representatives for the Overwatch World Cup

Attention to Agents—A few days from now, the very first Overwatch World Cup will be officially starting promising global glory to the team who can best the other pitting teams from various nations. National teams from every continent will be organized into groups and battle it all out for a chance to play on stage during the BlizzCon 2016. The spotlight will focus on 16 different teams; 4 from Americas, 6 from Europe and 6 from the Asia-Pacific region.

Before we go down to business, communities from the various locations vote for the players they would like to see represent their home country. These selected teams will compete on best of 3 exhibition matches online, and if they prove victorious, will be present at the BlizzCon in Southern California.

Players from Southeast Asia will be battling it out with representatives from China, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. With 6 teams coming from the APAC qualifier, our country has a huge chance of being represented at BlizzCon 2016.

Some certain individuals who have left an impact or distinguished themselves in the community will be selected for a chance to represent their country in this battle for global glory. Representatives are a mix of pro gamers, skilled community personalities and local players who climbed their way up the rank ladder in season 1 of Competitive play.

Now that we got the mechanics out of the way; six individuals, who are a mix of new and old faces, have rose to the top proving to everyone their skills and ability in the field as Overwatch agents. Starting off with Gibo, the Team Captain, Support expert and former pro player back in season 1 for League of Legends under Team Pacific; boasting a vote percentage of 69% from the entire PH community, how can he not win the title of Captain with his clash winning revives on Mercy! Backing Gibo are as follows, HAVATITE (43% votes and Top South East Asian Hearthstone player) and his fantastic air dominance with Pharah, YXKI (41% votes) bringing down the hammer with his Reinhardt, IDK (Captain’s Pick) turning the tides of the battle with his phenomenal Zarya maneuvers.

These last two members may seem familiar to the League of Legends community and they certainly are not dazzled by the limelight of the competition. We have two former League of Legends pro players hailing from the banner of IPT, Snoy (42% vote) proving to the PH community that its always High Noon somewhere in the world with his Mccree gunplay and Badger (Captain’s Pick and former Team Captain for Naga E-sports in League of Legends) bringing the house down with his groovy Lucio moves.

The Overwatch World Cup may not have any prizes but this doesn’t discourage any of the teams for teams who will be moving forward get an appearance bonus and a free trip to Blizzcon. We wish all the luck to our Overwatch team, and we hope everyone supports them, win or lose.
