Hearthstone’s New Competitive Heroic Brawl Is A First Look Into A Serious Tournament Mode
Hearthstone’s newly announced Heroic Tavern brawl will be a new pay-to-enter game mode that will see players compete in an Arena-style Standard experience with a twist.
The new mode will see players compete with a Standard constructed deck of their choice from their own card pool. Much like Arena, players will compete against other players enrolled in the brawl in a mad dash to get 12 wins. Three losses and you’re out.
The rewards for a perfect 12-win run are pretty epic: Three Golden Legendaries, a ton of gold and dust and 50 card packs.
The Heroic Tavern Brawl will last for one standard Brawl week. Unlike other brawls, this one will cost $9.99 or 1000 gold to enter. Players may only try it out a limited number of times.
Team 5’s new Heroic Brawl mode is likely a test-bed for future tournament modes. Currently, there are no native tournament support on the Hearthstone client. Most tournaments rely on third-party websites and apps to organize functioning tournaments for the Hearthstone eSports scene.
