The world’s most popular video sharing platform has won the exclusive online rights to broadcast the Esports Championship Series (ECS), starting this month.

The ECS, created by online gaming platform FACEIT, is best known for its contests based around Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and the new multi-year deal, announced Thursday, promises to offer fans more than simply a live stream.

“YouTube offers fans of the ECS an unmatched online viewing experience,” said FACEIT co-founder Michele Attisani. “YouTube is by far the most watched platform for gamers in the world and continues to innovate and lead on video technology.”

The two organisations have also hinted that other clever features will be available but are not going to be revealed until the first ECS tournament airs on March 25.

“This is our most significant investment into eSports to date and illustrates our continued commitment to growing eSports with the hundreds of millions of gamers watching YouTube each day,” said Ryan Wyatt, global head of gaming content at YouTube. JB
